An Introduction

The iEd Hub is an educational consortium that has partnered up with leading industries featuring the Cork region’s universities, enterprise stakeholders in the Health and Life Science Technology sector.

Together, the partners co-design and deliver a suite of programmes to produce a new generation of graduates for the Health Technology industry sector, including young indigenous and well-established multinational companies.

How We Work

Ireland is a major manufacturer of pharmaceutical and medical devices and products, which account for 31% of Ireland’s total exports. The Cork region is Ireland’s most significant Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) cluster in this sector. We are striving to ensure current and future provision of a uniquely skilled workforce in this sector. The iEd Hub targets the workforce from the continuum of young through to mature industries.

How We Work

Ireland’s talent pool remains one of its key global competitive advantages, with people and skills at the centre of the knowledge economy. iEd Hub will produce a new generation of T-shaped graduates, integrating Transversal skills development with training in hard skills and ‘vertical T-skills.’ Qualifications will provide training in ‘horizontal T skills’ in management, personal and professional development, sustainability, entrepreneurship, financing, social context of enterprise, soft skills and more. These ‘horizontal T-skills’ are industry agnostic and applicable to many careers, therefore supplying broad economic benefits to industry in Ireland.
