About iEd

About iEd

iEd is an educational consortium featuring University College Cork, Munster Technological University, enterprise stakeholders and leading industries in the Life Science sector. We are funded by an €8.7 million award from the Government’s Human Capital Initiative Programme (HCI), designed to meet priority skills needs and deliver innovative approaches to education for enterprises across Ireland’s economy.

Our Vision

Our aim is to accelerate enterprise and individual performance through education and knowledge.

We co-design with industry to deliver a suite of programmes to produce a new generation of graduates for the Life Sciences industry sector, including young indigenous and mature multinational companies.

iEd education is holistic, developing both technical and non-technical (transversal) skill sets in our graduates. Students spend their time between industry sites and academic campuses. iEd graduates have the skills and values needed to become leaders in the Life Sciences sector.

Research

iEd brings together academics from multiple disciplines including medicine, pharmacy, business, and engineering to develop a transdisciplinary research approach for the Life Sciences sector.

Our ambition is to engage in research that informs industry practice, which can easily translate to real world business practices. We aim to enable the sector to prepare for forthcoming events, and to respond more effectively to macro events.

Who We Are

iEd comprises of two educational institutions, an advisory & liaison group of enterprise stakeholders, and an industry partner group. Each consortium member provides valuable insights and resources to help us achieve our goal.
